Why We Care
- The Texas Department of State Health Services estimated an increase of 101,120 new cancer cases in 2010.
- In central Texas, it is estimated that there are 6,000 people living with HIV/AIDS (AIDS Services of Austin).
- HIV and AIDS infection rates are rising, especially among young people and people of color (AIDS Services of Austin).
- Over 1.5 million people in the U.S. were diagnosed with cancer in 2010 (Lance Armstrong Foundation).
